Family Weekend Away

Happy Birthday Aunty Kate!
For Christmas, Janet, Kate, and Darren gave the rest of the family a weekend away together - what fun! So in early Feb, we went to Peppers Resort at Salt (yes, those are not made up locations/names) for a wonderful weekend together. As it happened, that was the weekend of Kate's birthday, so were able to spend the whole weekend celebrating together!
Aunty Janet picked up some American-style cupcakes from Poppy's Cakes at Emporium. Yum!

Mama and Dada had a room to themselves - Matilda stayed in the same apartment as Grandma, Grandad, and Aunty Janet. Aunty Janet and M were roomies for the weekend - luckily Aunty Janet is an early bird!
Mama and Dada's room had a lovely big bathroom with a big spa bath. When M spotted Mama having a bath on Sat afternoon, she decided to join in the fun. It was very deep water though - M could only just sit in the bath without being covered up. She did NOT like the spa jets.
After a big day of swimming, no nap, and lots of fun, Matilda fell asleep while we were out for dinner on Aunty Kate's birthday. Grandma's sweet singing in her ear helped, too, I suspect.

Lots of willing arms to cuddle our sleeping girl.
I want to keep swimming! Why are you taking a photo and not swimming with me?! More swimming!

Great-Grandad Moore

M's great-grandad Moore passed away last Monday morning, 2nd July after being sick for a long time (9 years since his first stroke). M and I spent the day with her MorMor, Great-Grandma Moore and Great-Uncle Harry, to cheer them all up, especially Great-Grandma. The rest of our week was normal, and GG's funeral was on Friday afternoon at Corpus Christi at Nundah. The priest from that parish, Fr John, has been visiting GG in his nursing home for years, so the family decided that would be an appropriate place for the mass. M was really good through the service, apart from wanting to add to her Great-Uncle Ian's eulogy with her own ... we quickly plugged her up with a dummy, as we were hoping she might doze off. M dozed off in the car on the way to the cemetary and slept through the internment. At the end of the day, we had some drinks and nibblies at a function room at the retirement complex Great-Grandma is living in. Lots of family, but only about two people told me that they hadn't "see you since you were *this* high". ;) M behaved really well, had lots of cuddles, and a bit of crawling time in a corner out of the way of adult feet.

Easter

Hoppy Easter Everyone!
We had a very quiet long weekend for M's first easter. We had planned to go to church on Good Friday (always a very interesting service at St Mark's, with Bryan Nason and the troupe from Grin and Tonic reading relevant literature/bible passages instead of the readings and sermon) and also on Easter Sunday, but the 9:30 service is proving to be very awkwardly timed right now. If M wakes up around 7ish, then by 9:15-9:30, she's ready for her morning sleep ... and she won't sleep in the pram or in our arms at church ... too much going on. Next year will be a different story!
M was very lucky, and the Easter Bunny brought her gifts ... a white choc bunny and a train of small eggs. The Easter Bunny also left gifts for M with MorMor (some warm clothes to wear in Melbourne while I'm at AODC), Grandma and Grandad Richardson (a fluffy bunny and an egg), and the Hookers (a bunny mug and an egg). I don't think we're going to be able to save the eggs for M until she's allowed to eat chocolate ...
On Easter Sunday, we had a picnic in the park with the John's Mum and Dad and sister Janet. It was great fun, and M loved looking up at the tall gum trees and listening to the noises of kids playing cricket and footy and generally having fun in the park. She also got to participate in her favourite activity ... being adored and cuddled by her family! :)
On Easter Monday, we spent the afternoon and evening with the Hookers. The kids just adored looking at M; D in particular was fascinated with her. M is going to have so much fun trying to catch up with them as she gets older. She loved having the kids talking to her and helping her play with her toys.
